Healing – Rebuilding – Creating

Before we can get to the optimism of a rebuilt, recreated life after divorce, there is the difficult and often emotional process of healing the wounds from the divorce, legal proceedings, and adjustment to the many factors that life now presents. See, 3 Steps to Create a Balanced Life.

We could not ever imagine that we would be sitting here: divorced and single. It was not in our plan. Our parents never told us this is how it would end up. And here we are.

At some point through the process of releasing old emotions and balancing our lives, we are ready to focus one creating a new life. Divorced and single is not a stigma but an opportunity to create a vibrant, fulfilling and rich life. We take the good from our earlier years, our children, memories and moments in which we felt alive, and build a new set of life experiences.

No divorced and single person follows the same path on the journey of healing, rebuilding and creating a life imagined.  Each has his or her own unique circumstance that complicates matters, whether it is an ongoing custody dispute, new financial pressures, or matters more mundane. According to the U.S. Census Bureau on post-divorce income, the average woman’s family income drops by 37% after divorce. Single parenting creates an entirely set of new issues that previously had been take for granted: Some might walk slowly along the path to joy and recovery; others might leap into the new life with reckless abandon. Each journey is unique and compelling for beneath each step lies meaning and depth.
