Awareness – Honesty – Clarity
Relationship communication is a learned skill.
Most people agree that great relationship communication is the single most important factor in creating and maintaining a healthy and fulfilling relationship. Relationship communication experts like Christiane Northrup, M.D., author of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom and The Wisdom of Menopause, correctly relate to this as a learned skill, and not something with which everyone is born. Like any skill, it is up to each of us to develop, practice and hone the craft so we are effective communicators and active participants in each of our relationship.
Whether you glean your knowledge from seminars, coaches or relationship books, the importance of great relationship communication cannot be over estimated. By increasing your communication skills, you will be able nurture existing relationships, heal old wounds and prevent future conflict.
Relationship communication is a two-way street: listening and talking. Within those two realms, there are as many ways to communicate effectively as there are to stumble. Learning how to listen, when to speak, how to move ego out of the way, how to get to the main issue and how to bring out the best in your partner, friend or colleague.
The most important point made in this section is that the learning to communicate with the one sitting across from us is all that matters. Understanding and incorporating those tools in our daily lives will increase our love quotient, reduce our conflict and bring a calm that we had been missing.
